East Village Housing Selection
Wednesday March 25 in Frazier-Jelke Lobby
When East Village was constructed, students felt that a different housing selection process was appropriate for the apartments. By a vote, students determined that groups representing seniors and juniors should have priority for East Village. Any groups with rising sophomore students should choose after those groups with only juniors and seniors. There is a set of lottery numbers for men and a corresponding set of numbers for women; if a man and woman with the same number are in line to select an apartment, the two groups will compare the next best lottery number to determine which of the two groups will select first.
Apartments are not designated male or female. The gender balance of apartments will be determined based on the percentage of junior and senior men and women with lottery numbers on the date of housing selection. For instance, if 60% of the junior and senior lottery numbers are held by women, then 60% of the apartments will be assigned to women. This percentage will be posted in F-J during the East Village Housing selection.
Apartment selection for men may be stopped if the percentage of spaces selected by men match the percentage of junior and senior men going through housing selection.
The times below for East Village housing selection reflect that student priority.
