Keynote Speaker Jame′l Hodges

Jame’l Hodges received his bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Mass Communication  from Virginia State University and  his Masters of Science degree from Florida State University in Higher Education Administration. For 3 years he worked in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Georgia prior to accepting the position of Coordinator of Greek Life and Education in 2005 at Cal Poly Pomona. Hodges worked very closely with Dwaun Warmack in presenting leadership programs and workshops at national and regional conferences.

 

In this leadership capacity, Mr. Hodges worked to enhance, promote and strengthen the Greek Community. He has assisted the Greek Community at CPP with getting regional and national recognition and awards and was even named Rookie of the Year within the Division of Student Affairs at Cal Poly Pomona. Last year, he was awarded Greek Advisor of the Year for the Western Regional Greek Leadership Conference.

 

Last year, Jame’l took on a new position within University Housing Services as Coordinator of Residential Education and Leadership and hit the ground running working toward enhancing the educational active and passive programming within the residence halls. Just a few weeks ago, Cal Poly Pomona RA’s won 3 top awards in programming at their regional RA Conference.

 

He is a fulltime Doctoral Student at the University of Southern California in the Rossier School of Education and is a proud father of 9 year old Jaelon Hodges, a 4th grader at Arrowhead Elementary School. He is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc, where he serves as the Southern California District Discipline and Grievance Chair and is the Vice President of the Black Faculty and Staff Association here at Cal Poly Pomona.
