Sorority Recruitment

Registration for fall 2008 sorority recruitment will begin on June 15, 2008. Click HERE to complete the application and pay the $50.00 registration fee. When you attend Open Rhodes, come visit us during registration if you have questions about joining a sorority. Below are the dates, event descriptions and suggestions on what to wear.

Introduction to Sorority Life
August 23 at 5:00 p.m. and August 24 at 2:00 p.m., BCLC Ballroom
Attending one session is recommended if you are considering sorority life at Rhodes.
suggested dress: casual, shorts, t-shirt and flip flops

Sorority 101
September 5 at 3:00 p.m., BCLC Ballroom
This will be your first opportunity to meet your Gamma Chi and learn more about the recruitment process. It is required for all women participating in sorority recruitment. Varsity athletes are excused.
suggested dress: casual, jeans, tanks, polo shirts, boat shoes, flip flops

Open House Events
September 6 at Sorority Houses
Tonight you will have the opportunity to visit all four Panhellenic chapters and learn more about their national organization and meet the sisters.
suggested dress: sundresses, skirts, capris, nice shirts, no jeans

Sisterhood Events
September 7 at Sorority Houses
Potential New Members may be invited to visit up to four sororities to learn more about the chapter at Rhodes and how it fits into our community.
suggested dress: recruitment t-shirt, shorts, skirts or bottoms

Philanthropy Events
September 9 at  Sorority Houses
On this night, potential new members will be invited to up to three sororities where you will get to make a craft with sorority members , learn about their national philanthropy and their volunteer activities.
suggested dress: sundresses, skirts, capris, nice shirts, no jeans you are comfortable moving around in since you might be sitting on the floor

Preference Night
September 12 at Sorority Houses
At Preference Events, chapters will share their meaning of sisterhood with potential new members. Potential new members will be invited to attend up to two sororities′ events.  This is a very important night for sororities and potential new members.
suggested dress: dressy sundresses, but not your prom dress

NATIONAL PAN-HELLENIC COUNCIL
Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Sigma Gamma Rho

Women interested in joining one of the three National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) organizations should contact the individual chapter or visit the organization′s national website for more information regarding intake. Fliers will be posted on-campus for the Rush meetings. For more information about Membership Intake, please visit the national organization′s website. Contact the Office of Student Involvement at 843.3552 for more information about recruitment opportunities.

Recommendation Letters are not required to participate in Sorority Recruitment at Rhodes College. Each national organization has their own requirements, but the College′s Panhellenic Council does not require them. Contact the local Alumnae Panhellenic Council or visit the national website of the organization for more information. Alumnae will know if their organization requires a letter or introduction form for reference letters. Please send recommendation letters to the Office of Student Involvement for distribution.
