Where I Went: Antwerp, Belgium
When I Went: Summer 2012
Program: International Business Cases, Business in the European Union and Religion in the Low Countries
Hi! I’m Esha Sharma and I am a senior Philosophy major and Religious Studies minor at Rhodes. This summer I was lucky enough to go on the International Business Cases, Business in the European Union and Religion in the Low Countries Rhodes Maymester headquartered in Antwerp, Belgium. I spent about four weeks in Europe and it was an amazing experience. I took eight hours worth of credits in Business and Religious Studies classes. With my Maymester, I was able to travel to the Netherlands, Germany, and France as well as other cities in Belgium. My favorite part of the program was the fact that I was taking Rhodes classes with Rhodes professors but the majority of our time was spent on site visits to historically rich places and businesses. It was a great learning experience because I was able to get more hands-on experience than I would have in a classroom alone. We went everywhere from Anne Frank’s house in Amsterdam to champagne factories in France. In less than a month I was able to see so many places and was exposed to lots of different cultures. It was the first time I had ever traveled abroad alone and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to do so. I would encourage everyone to participate in a study abroad program and I’d be happy to answer any questions and share my experiences!
