Where I Went: Glasgow, U.K. – University of Strathclyde
When I Went: Spring 2011
Hi! I’m Andrea Perkins, a senior studying History and Environmental Studies. Last semester I studied abroad at Strathclyde University in Glasgow Scotland through ISEP –Direct. Though this was not my first time going to the U.K., it was my first time in Scotland. It was an amazing experience! Living in halls (what they call dorms) I got to know and interact with other international students from all over Europe. I was also incredibly close to my classes, the student center which offered tons of activities, and the central part of the city.
Living in halls also gave me a chance to really experience Scottish culture: haggis, ceilidhs (an event with music and dancing), kilts (which are part of their traditional formal attire and still worn regularly), hen & stage parties, and, of course, bagpipes!
During and after my semester abroad, I was able to do a lot of traveling, visiting Spain, France, Belgium, Germany and Italy. I saw so many amazing things during my time abroad but the thing I hold most dear about my semester in Scotland (and Europe) is the INCREDIBLE people I met.
