“My momma always said life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.” As a fellow Alabamian I didn’t know what I was getting into when I signed up to go to Beijing, China in the Fall of 2010, nor in Summer 2011 when I went to Kunming, China, Vietnam, and Laos. But I took in my travels a cup half empty and learned so much about Southeast Asian culture. I’ve played basketball on numerous courts, street danced in rural parts of Tibetan regions, kicked it with Buddhist monks, rode elephants in Laos, and eaten silkworms in Vietnam. Studying abroad and having the chance to experience all these activities were the best thing that ever happened in my life next to reading Forrest Gump!
