Hey gang, I’m Amy Aughinbaugh, an art history major and religious studies minor in the class of 2012.  I was lucky enough to study abroad twice with Rhodes, both of which were definitely two of the best decisions I’ve ever made.  In the summer of 2010, I traveled for the first time out of the U.S. to literally the other side of the world in Delhi, India.  Some of my favorite aspects of India were the very same things that made the country somewhat intimidating on the outset.  Eventually, however, I truly fell in love with its culture and even with its monkeys!

Europe was an entirely different type of incredible experience, but I like to describe it as “the coolest thing I’ve ever done, every day for three months.”  Some of my favorite memories from European Studies include climbing to what felt like the top of the world at Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh (see picture), eating the most delicious breakfast of my life in Beaune, and nearly every moment in Italy (Venetian canals are just as glamorous as they seem in the movies).  After India and Europe, I feel like I’ve traveled the world and I have so much more knowledge that I can now apply to my studies and my life back home.  I would encourage anyone who wants to see a life beyond their usual boundaries to study abroad, and I’d love to talk to you about how to do it!
