Where I Went: Tianjin, China

Program: China Maymester

Hi! My name is Felecia Collier and I am an International Studies major.  While at Rhodes, I went on an incredible program that probably broke every stereotype and illusion I had of Asia. The program I participated in was the China Maymester.  This was my first time abroad and going with a group made my stay in a foreign country much easier.  I had an amazing time mingling with the locals, shopping in the malls and street venues, and even taking language lessons with Chinese professors.  Our program included stops in several Chinese cities: Tianjin, Beijing, Shanghai, and Nanjing, seeing cultural sites such as Mao’s memorial, Tiananmen Square, palace gardens, museums, and the Nanjing Massacre Memorial.  All of these places opened my eyes to the world of China.  Now is the perfect opportunity to travel abroad and learn wonderful things about cultures and countries that have always piqued your curiosity.  I encourage all Rhodes students to not let such a great opportunity pass you by; broaden your horizons through studying abroad!
