Visiting Assistant Professor John Simmons teaches beginning computer programming in Python. His academic background is in math (ring theory) and computer science (reflection in programming languages). His undergraduate degree is from Samford University in Birmingham, he has A.M. and Ph.D. in math as well as an M.S. And Ph.D. in computer science from Indiana University. He taught at Wabash College and the Wilkes University. He worked 20 years at FedEx as a programmer and retired from there. While there, he also taught part-time at the University of Memphis.
