Delta Fair & Music Festival – 9/1-9/10
The Delta Fair runs from September 9th to the 10th with concerts, food, rides, and vendors each day. The fair also holds themed nights almost every day of the week, such as College Night, $10 Tuesday, and $1 Thursday.
Hank Willis Thomas Lecture – 9/14
The Memphis College of Art will be hosting Hank Willis Thomas, an American artist whose work focuses on issues of pop culture, race, and advertising. Thomas’ art has been featured in galleries and museums nationally and internationally. His lecture on September 14th in the Callicott Auditorium will bring Memphis into dialogue with his art. The free event starts at 6 pm.
Cooper-Young Festival – 9/16
Each fall the intersection of Cooper Street and Young Avenue becomes the heart of the Cooper-Young Festival, held this year on September 16th, 2017. From modest beginnings, this event now stretches into the neighborhood, with vendors and artists lining the streets. There’s also live music and several food vendors in addition to Cooper-Young’s many restaurants.
PWYC Nights at Playhouse on the Square – 9/28
For many of their shows, Playhouse on the Square performs Pay What You Can Nights, sponsored by local businesses. So grab a donation, because this month’s PWYC nights are The Flick (August 31st) and Shakespeare in Love (September 28th).
Southern Junkers Vintage Market – 9/29 – 9/30
For two days the Agricenter International will transform into an enormous vintage market with just about anything you could want. All of the shopping will be inside and air conditioned, but bring a hat and sunscreen for the inevitably long food truck line.
