Conserving Paper

I am concerned about the number of free printing pages I have left for printing in the Rhodes College computer labs. How can I use less paper when using the remainder of my free print pages?

There are several strategies you can use to save paper in the Rhodes College computer labs when printing:

1. Use 2-up or 4-up printing. Most applications, including Internet Explorer and Microsoft Word, allow for you to print multiple pages of your document on a single page. This is an excellent thing to do when printing web pages or drafts of papers you are revising.  Different applications may have different routes to the setting for printing multiple pages.  It may appear on the main print window:

or you may have to click on a “Preferences” button and browse the tabs to make the change:

2. Check the printer before printing to make sure that it has enough toner. If you print pages that turn out to be blank because there is no toner in the printer, they will still be deducted from your free pages. If you are printing a long document and want to make sure the printer is working properly, print a single test page out of Word using some sample text.

3. Be careful when printing multiple copies of a document. Note that, if you select multiple copies of a single document, you will be charged for all of the pages but you will notified ONLY about the number of pages in the first copy of the document.
