ResNet


ResNet provides network services to the Internet and local network resources to students living on campus. All residence halls rooms have wireless connectivity. Connectivity is exclusively wireless; there are no network ports in residence halls. The wireless network allows students to connect to the Internet anywhere in their room, Barret library, Lynx Lair, Middle Ground (open 24 hours) and various locations outside and inside other academic buildings.

Please make sure your computer meets our hardware and software Requirements. To ensure a virus free network for you and for us, we are requesting that you get your computer certified. Certification is the procedure for verifying that your computer has antivirus software running and up to date and has the approved operating system. At certification we will:

  • Connect your computer to our wireless network
  • Install antivirus software (no cost to you)
  • Install anti spyware software
  • Check for the approved operating system

During Fall Orientation you can take your computer to the Computer Depot Certification area, Barret LL051 which is accessed by going down the stairs immediately to the right of the Barret Library entrance. After Orientation you can take your computer to the Computer Depot in FJ-112E. To lessen the time you will spend at Certification, run Windows XP Pro updates before arriving on campus.

If you do not get your computer certified by October 1, you will lose your wireless access.

The college operates the Computer Depot, a computer problem solving center for students.The Computer Depot is located in Frazier Jelke 112-E. If you are having any computer problems, take it to the Computer Depot.

Checklist for getting connected and using ResNet:

  1. Be sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements.
  2. Perform your Windows XP Pro Updates and set your computer for automatic Windows updating.
  3. Be sure you bring your software installer disks on campus.
  4. Change your password
  5. Get your computer certified before October 1st.
