John Robert Dobyns, L.L.D.

1914-1917

Dr. Dobyns received his A.B. degree in 1874 and later received an M.A. and LL.D. from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. Beginning in 1877, he taught at the Missouri School for the Deaf, and in 1881, he became Superintendent of Mississippi School for the Deaf at Jackson. He left Southwestern Presbyterian University in 1917 to become President of Stonewall Jackson College in Abingdon, Virginia.  In 1919 he was Superintendent of Arkansas Deaf Mute Institute in Little Rock.  [Source: Bulletin of Westminster College, 1918]
