Connecting to Email with Microsoft Outlook

We recommend you use Microsoft Outlook as your email client because it takes full advantage of the Rhodes Exchange server.

When you first start up Microsoft Outlook, you may initially be prompted by an application wizard to set up your email account.

If you don’t receive that prompt, close Outlook and open Mail settings in the Windows Control Panel.  Then click on the Email Accounts … button. The account setup wizard will start up.

1. Click the radio button next to Add a new e mail account and click the Next button.

2. Click the radio button next to Microsoft Exchange Server and click the Next button.

3. When you are prompted for the Microsoft Exchange Server, type: xch.rhodes.edu,  then uncheck the box next to Use Cached Exchange Mode. Type your Rhodes Network username where prompted.  Then click on the Check Name button.

4. If you entered your username correctly, the User Name field should now be populated with your lastname_firstname (e.g., Williford_Paul).  Click the “Next” button.

5. You should get a Congratulations window.  Click the Finish button.
