Email (General Instructions)
To use email and to access college network services, you have been assigned a username and password. The password is case sensitive. Your account is active as long as you are enrolled at Rhodes.
Student usernames are usually the first three letters of the last name, followed by first initial, then second initial. For example, Jean Carol Smith′s username is SMIJC. Her email address is smijc@rhodes.edu
Faculty and Staff usernames are usually the last name followed by the first initial. For example, Edward Robinson’s username is ROBINSONE. His email address is robinsone@rhodes.edu
To access email on the Internet, go to Outlook Web at https://xch.rhodes.edu/owa and enter your Rhodes email address in the "Email Address" field and your password in the "Password" field.
All student, staff and faculty email addresses are maintained on the Rhodes Exchange server. Email messages have a 1 year life cycle. Messages greater than 1 year old are purged from the Exchange server daily. To retain messages beyond one year, you can save them to Outlook personal folders on your desktop computer.
To send an email to someone at Rhodes using Outlook Web, click the "TO" button in a new message window. In the Find Names window, select “Find names in: Global Address List”. Then enter a portion of the last name in the display name box. From the list of names select the desired name and click “TO”. Your message will display with the username entered in the “TO” portion of the message.
Several distribution lists have been set up for mailing to multiple users on campus. Depending on your permissions, you may or may not be able to send a message to any one of these lists:
| List | Address |
| Faculty | faculty@rhodes.edu |
| Faculty and Staff | facstaff@rhodes.edu |
| Staff | staff@rhodes.edu |
