Arkansas State Kickoff Klassic

The hurdles and pole vault proved to be other strong events for the Lynx. Freshman Melissa DeFabrizio (Admiral Farragut/Richmond Hill,ONT) set a personal best with a vault of 9'0. In her first collegiate meet, Sophomore Bekka Russ (Franklin/Franklin,TX) also vaulted to a height of 9'0. Freshman Kim Tryon (Gulf Breeze/Gulf Breeze,FL) competed in the pole vault for the first time in her career reaching a height of 8'6.
Rhodes featured six hurdlers at the Arkansas State Kickoff Klassic. Alanna Topps (Gallatin/Hendersonville,TN) set a one-second personal best in the 55 hurdles with a time of 9.09. Topps qualified for the semifinals, along with Russ, running 9.37, and Tryon, running 9.25.
Other highlights included Forbes running 7.47 in the 55 meter dash. Her time was fourteen hundredths off of an NCAA National Provisional Qualifying mark. Additionally, Junior Sha King (Kirby/Memphis,TN) set a one-tenth personal best in a time of 7.62. In the triple jump, Sophomore Annie Bell (MICDS/St. Louis,MO) set an indoor personal best with a jump of 34'6. Her jump was two feet short of an NCAA National Provisional Qualifying mark.
The early season meet for the Lynx featured a squad of 12 women, with 7 women competing in their first college meet. After a holiday break hiatus the Lynx will return to action on January 20th at Southern Illinois. They will also compete at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, (the site of NCAA Nationals), the banked track at Indiana University, Depauw University, and the oversized track at Iowa State as a tune up for NCAA Division III Indoor Nationals in March.
