A limited number of Rhodes athletes competed at the Hooiser Hills Inivitational on Friday night. On the men's side, Junior Alex Mahoney (New Trier/Winnetka,IL) added to his impressive season, breaking the 3,000 meter school record in a time of 8:42.31. It is a nine second improvement over the previous record held by John Harrison ('06). Scott Barrows (St.Mary's/San Antonio,TX) also competed in the 3,000 meter run finishing in a time of 9:25.00. Also in the distance events, Freshman Cybil Covic (Cordova/Cordova,TN) ran a five second personal best in the mile. Her time of 5:22.12 placed her 2nd of DIII athletes and 19th overall in the meet. Scherer also had a good day in her 3,000 meter debut, running 11:10.65 to finish in 2nd of DIII athletes and 18th overall in the meet
 

In the sprints, Freshman Greg Cook (St.John's/Bellaire,TX) ran the fastest ever indoor 400 meters in school history for the second week in a row. Cook, with a three tenth personal best, ran 52.16 seconds. Freshman Anson Purdy (Oratory/Westfield,NJ) also ran another personal best dipping below 53 seconds for the first time in his career. The Lady Lynx also had two 400 meters compete at Indiana. Freshman Julia Goss (Visitation/St.Louis,MO) also ran a personal best for the second weekend in a row in a time of 59.69, placing her in 14th. Senior Elizabeth Erny (Sacred Heart/Louisville,KY) finished in 16th place in a time 1:01.37.
