Kristin Forbes Runs Personal Best 24.8 at NCAA Championships
5/24/07---Freshman Kristin Forbes (Hillsboro/Nashville,TN) ran a personal best 24.80 to finish 9th in the 200 prelims, just missing qualifying for the final field of eight in the women's 200. The Lynx 4x400 relay team of Elizabeth Erny, Julia Goss, Emily Broocks and Kristin Forbes finished 6th in their heat with a time of 4:00.93. The team was hampered by a recent hamstring strtain by Elizabeth Erny. On Friday afternoon Forbes will see to qualify for the 400 finals and on Saturday Annie Bell will partcipate in the triple jump. Women's Team Ranked 35th in Nation; Leave for NCAA Championships Today
5/23/07--- According to the latest release of the NCAA Division III Power Rankings, the Rhodes College Women's Track and Field are ranked 35th in the nation and is the highest ranking in school history. The women look to improve on that ranking with their performances at the NCAA Division III National Championships

May 24-26 hosted by Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The team will depart today, with competition beginning Thursday. On the first day, Freshman Kristin Forbes will be competing in the 200 meter dash at 6:25pm, while the 4x400 meter relay will compete at 7:35pm. On Friday, Forbes will return to compete in the 400 meters at 5:35pm. Along with finals in the running events, Sophomore Annie Bell will compete in the triple jump at 2pm. 5 Athletes Qualify for NCAA DIII National Championships
5/20/07-- Last night, the NCAA released the 2007 Outdoor Division III National Championship competitors' list. Sophomore Annie Bell will represent Rhodes in the triple jump, while Freshman Kristin Forbes will be competing in the 200 and 400 meter dashes. The 4x400 meter relay team of Forbes, Senior Elizabeth Erny, Sophomore Emily Broocks, and Freshman Julia Goss, as well as Junior Sha King as alternate was also selected to compete in the Championships. It will be the first SCAC women's relay team to ever compete at NCAA Division III National Championships. Championship Information

 

Forbes Lowers School Record, Relays Prepare for Nationals in Chicago
5/18/07--- Freshman Kristin Forbes (Hillsboro/Nashville,TN) broke the 200 meter school record at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois Friday night. Her time of 24.91 is also a NCAA Provisional National Qualifying Mark and ranks her 8th in NCAA Division III. She was also a member of the 4x100 along with Senior Elizabeth Erny, Freshman Julia Goss, and Junior Sha King that ran an NCAA Provisional National Qualifying Mark in a time of 48.35 seconds. Lady Lynx Break 14 School Records This Season
5/15/07--- During the indoor season, the Rhodes women broke 8 school records including Freshman Julia Goss' long jump ranked 16th in the NCAA Division III. Outdoor season was quite similar with 6 more new school records and 5 NCAA National Provisional Qualifying Marks, including both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays. The Lynx look to improve on these marks at a last chance later this week, before leaving for NCAA Division III National Championships May 24-26 in Osh Kosh, Wisconsin. 2007 top performances.

 

4x400 Relay Lowers School Record, NCAA Qualifying Mark
5/10/07--- The Lady Lynx traveled to Abilene Christian University on Thursday to compete in a twilight last chance meet. The team of Senior Elizabeth Erny, Sophomore Emily Broocks, and Freshmen Julia Goss and Kristin Forbes once again broke their own school record in a time of 3:53.83. The relay team is currently ranked 14th in NCAA Division III, and they look to further improve their seed this coming week. Sophomore Bekka Russ also competed for Rhodes, running 15.98 in the 100 meter hurdles and setting a personal best in the high jump with a leap of 5'1.25 feet. Complete Results
 

Forbes Breaks School Record at Nashville Twilight
5/05/07--- Freshman Kristin Forbes (Hillsboro/Nashville,TN) broke the 200 meter school record at Vanderbilt University this Saturday in a time of 25.02 seconds. She broke the record previously held by 2004 graduate Corletra Mance. Forbes also holds the 400 meter school record and is a member of both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter school record relays. Forbes bettered her 200 meter NCAA National Provisional Qualifying Mark and is now ranked 13th in the nation. She is also ranked 8th in the nation in the 400 meters, while the 4x100 meter relay is ranked 12th and the 4x400 meter relay is ranked 14th nationally in NCAA Division III. Complete Results

4/29/07--- Despite winning 8 different events, including both relays, the Rhodes women fell just points short of capturing a conference title. Event winners included Freshman Kristin Forbes (Hillsboro/Nashville,TN) in the 100, 200, and 400 meters, Freshman Kim Tryon (Gulf Breeze/Gluf Breeze,FL) in the pole vault, Sophomore Annie Bell (MICDS/St.Louis,MO) in the triple jump, Sophomore Bekka Russ (Franklin/Franklin,TX) in the 100 meter hurdles, and the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays. Relays Break School Records, Set National Marks
04/21/07--- Both 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays broke school records for the Lynx, while setting NCAA National Provisional Qualifying Marks at the Vanderbilt Invitational this weekend. The 4x100 meter relay team ran a time of 48.54 consisting of Freshman Julia Goss and Kristin Forbes, Junior Sha King, and Senior Elizabeth Erny. 400m Runners Fly at Ole Miss
4/14/07--- Freshman Kristin Forbes (Hillsboro/Nashville,TN) led a trio of Lady Lynx in the 400 meters at the Mississippi Invitational running a time of 57.71. Closely behind were Senior Elizabeth Erny (Sacred Heart/Louisville,KY) and Freshman Julia Goss (Visitation/St.Louis,MO) running times of 58.84 and 59.46. This is the first time in school history that the Lynx have had three ladies under the minute barrier in one season. 4/07/07--- Freshman Cybil Covic (Cordova/Cordova,TN) led the distance runners at Ole Miss with a third-place finish and a new personal best in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:40. 3/24/07--- Annie Bell (MICDS/St.Louis,MO) broke the school record in the triple jump today with a mark of 11.45 meters. The performances is a NCAA National Provisional Qualifying Mark and ranks her second in Division III this year. Tryon and Jumpers with Successful Day at Sewanee
2/24/07--- Freshman Kim Tryon (Gulfbreeze/Gulfbreeze,FL) led the jumpers with some top finishes at the Sewanee Invitational Saturday. She finished 2nd in the pole vault with a leap of 2.89m (9'6), 6th in the triple jump with a jump of 10.57m (34'8), and 3rd in the 55 meter hurdles in a time of 9.24 seconds. 2/17/07--- The Lady Lynx broke three school records, including Freshman Julia Goss (Visitation/St.Louis,MO) in the long jump. Her performance of 5.52 meters (18'1.5) is an NCAA National Provisional Qualifying mark and has her ranked 5th in the nation. 2/16/07--- In only her second race of the season, Freshman Cybil Covic (Cordova/Cordova,TN) again lowered her personal best with a time of 5:22.12, which placed her 2nd among DIII athletes at the meet. Goss Leads Several Strong Performances for Lady Lynx
2/10/07--- A select group of jumpers and sprinters competed at the Middle Tennessee Valentine Invitational. Freshman Julia Goss (Visitation/St.Louis,MO) led the way in the 400 meters with a 3rd place finish in a time of 59.91, the fastest indoor time of her career. Senior Elizabeth Erny (Sacred Heart/Louisville,KY) also set a career personal best with a 4th place finish in a time of 60.41. Goss long jumped earlier in the day with a strong 4th place performance of 5.15 meters (16'11). Relays thrive at site of this year's NCAA Indoor Nationals
1/27/07---The Rhodes women continued their excellent indoor season competing at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, in Terra Haute. The Lynx demolished both the school record in the 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays. The 4x400 meter relay team ran a 4:02.18, one of the better times in Division III this year. 1/20/07--- The women established several person bests, including one school record. In the field events, Sophomore Annie Bell (MICDS/St. Louis,MO) got the Lynx off to great start with a triple jump of 10.68 meters, (35 feet). The jump was a half-foot improvement on her indoor personal best, while only inches away from the school record. Freshman Kristin Forbes (Hillsboro/ Nashville,TN), broke her second school record in as many meets with a 26.11 in the 200 meter dash. DeFabrizio selected as Rhodes Track Athlete of the Week
12/06/06---As selected by the coaching staff, Freshman Melissa DeFabrizio (Admiral Farragut/Richmond Hills,ONT) was selected as the female athlete of the week for her performance in the pole vault and 800 meter run at her first college meet hosted by Arkansas State. On Friday night, DeFabrizio set a career best in the pole vault with a jump of 9 feet. DeFabrizio is a member of the Lynx vaulting squad that features four different women vaulting over 9 feet. On Saturday, DeFabrizio returned to run the 800 meters, finishing in fourth place, the Lynx best finish of the meet.
 
Forbes, Goss Smash 400 Meter Indoor School Record
12/02/06---The Lynx started their season off to a fast start competing at the Arkansas State Kickoff Klassic in Jonesboro this weekend. Freshman Kristin Forbes (Hillsboro/Nashville,TN) led an impressive group of first-year runners at the opening meet of the year. Forbes broke the 400 meter school record in a time of 58.99, lowering the previous mark of 1:02.59. Her time was only three tenths off of an NCAA National Provisional Qualifying mark.
