In the second year that Rhodes sponsored a men's swimming and diving team, the team competed in dual meets at Delta State University and Hendrix College, as well as competing in meets at Henderson State University and University of Arkansas (Little Rock) that included Division I & II teams.

In February 2000, the women's team swam to a 7th place finish in the conference meet at DePauw University. Individually, the team found a lot of success at the meet, as many of them swam personal bests in multiple events. In fact, there were multiple Top 20 finishes in some of the events. The freestyle and medley relay teams placed high at the meet.
