Cross Country Women Place 5th at NCAA Regional Championships
11/11/06---
The Lynx women's cross country team finished 5th out of 26 teams at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championships in Atlanta, Georgia.  This race marks the 13th consecutive year that the Rhodes College women have placed in the top 5 at the Regional meet.  Additionally, the women’s finish placed them second among all competing SCAC competition.  With the new at-large selection process, a top 5 finish by the Lynx also qualifies them for consideration for a Nationals bid...more...
 

Cross Country Women finish 4th at SCAC Championships
10/28/06---Freshmen Whitney Ranson, Chelsea Ouellette, Cybil Covic, and Kate Scherer led the Lynx to a 4th place finish at the SCAC Championship meet in Danville, KY. Finishing in the top 4 positions in each of the last 4 meets, they placed 20th, 24th, 28th, and 32nd on the challenging 6000 meter Centre College course...Results

Cross Country Women Place 18th at Tori Neubauer Invite in Wisconsin
10/14/06---Freshman Whitney Ranson placed 58th (23:24) out of 434 finishers as the Rhodes women, racing their first 6k of the season, placed 18th out of 28 teams at the Tori Neubauer Invitational hosted by Wisconsin-La Crosse. The field included many of the best Division III programs in the country and the spotlight of a national stage was not lost on the Lady Lynx as they roared out though the first mile, quickly becoming a fan favorite when it was announced the Rhodes women were in 5th place through the early stages of the race. Cross Country Women Place 2nd at Rhodes Invitational
09/30/06---Whitney Ranson placed 8th overall in 19:49 to lead the Lynx to a 2nd place overall finish. Placing 4 runners in the top 15, Rhodes finished just 4 points out of first place behind Division I Southern Arkansas University, 66-70...Results

 

Ranson Earns Runner of the Week Honors
09/25/06---Whitney Ranson, a freshman from Pickens, SC was named SCAC Cross Country Runner of the Week. In only the second meet of her collegiate career, Ranson was the number one finisher for the Lynx, leading them to a top 15 finish against primarily Division I and II colleges. She also finished with a season's best of 19:31, improving her time by 44 seconds.
   
Cross Country Women 15th at Southern Stampede
09/16/06---The Lynx finished 15th out of 34 schools at the Southern Stampede, hosted by Missouri Southern in Joplin, MO. Freshman Whitney Ranson led the Lynx over the 5000 meter course in 19:31, followed by Chelsea Ouellette in 19:38 and Cybil Covic in 19:44... Results

May King Named SCAC Athlete of the Week
10/05/05---Women's cross country team captain May King, a senior from Metairie, La., has been selected as the SCAC Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run Friday, September 30, and Saturday, October 1. King led Rhodes for the second time in as many meets, placing 28th out of 177 runners at the Rhodes Invitational at Plough Park in Memphis. Her time of 19:46 was a 49 second improvement over her previous best on the course. King's 4-year progression on the same course at the Rhodes Invitational has been: 21:25, 20:47, 20:35, and 19:46.
