Samantha
Lambert begins her 8th year as Rhodes' head women's
volleyball coach in 2006-07. Lambert arrived at Rhodes
in the spring of 1999; since that time, the team has
averaged twenty plus wins over the last six seasons.
Including a 25-11 overall record (13-5 SCAC) in 2004.
For her team's efforts, Lambert was chosen as the SCAC
Coach of the Year in 2004. Lambert has also been actively
involved in coaching Memphis area youth volleyball.
She is the director for the Memphis Juniors Volleyball
Association (MJVA), and helped coach three of the club's
teams (13s and 18s) to berths in the Junior Olympic
Volleyball Championships in 2001 and 2006. Further, she also
serves on the board of the Delta Region of USA Volleyball. Lambert is also a 2006 graduate of the NCAA Women's Coaches Academy.
She
came to Rhodes after spending a year as an assistant
coach at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. A native
of Lancaster, New York, Lambert attended Earlham College,
where she received her BA in Economics and Management.
She was a 3-sport athlete at Earlham, lettering in basketball,
softball, and volleyball.
After
graduation from Earlham in 1996, she returned home to
New York and worked for an Americorps program called
Athletes in Service to America. She coached volleyball
at Holy Angels Academy in Buffalo, New York for 2 years,
and was also an assistant basketball coach at Seneca
Vocational High School in Buffalo, New York for 2 years.
While in New York, Lambert completed her Masters Degree
in Sport Administration at Canisius College in Buffalo,
New York.
Lambert
and her husband, Scott, currently reside in Cordova.
Ken
Scarleski begins his third year as an assistant coach
for the Lynx volleyball team in 2006. Prior to this
stint with the Lynx, he coached for more than 13 years
in the Memphis area at the junior high and high school
level, at both Holy Rosary and St. Agnes Academy. He
has also been actively involved in coaching on the Junior
Olympic level for the past 4 years, first with the Memphis
Starlings and also for the past 3 years with Memphis
Xtreme.
Scarleski
is also the founder and 11-year organizer of the annual
Italian Festival Adult Volleyball Outdoor Tournament
in Memphis, prior to his involvement with Junior Olympic
Volleyball.
A
native of Chicago, Scarleski attended the University
of Memphis. He and his wife, Renee, reside in Memphis
with their youngest son. He is also the father of four
daughters.
Ammar
Rizvi - Assistant Coach
Ammar
Rizvi will be back with the Lynx as an assistant coach
for the 2006 season. Rizvi played for 3 years on the
Varsity Boys Volleyball Team at Lafayette High School
in Brooklyn, NY and continued his volleyball career
at Polytechnic University, a NCAA Division III Men's
Program. Ammar has coached for the Memphis Juniors Volleyball
Association (MJVA) for 3 years. In addition to MJVA,
he has coached at Lausanne Collegiate School as the
Assistant Varsity Coach and at Houston High School as
the Head Freshman Coach.
Rizvi
and his wife Tracey reside in Memphis with his two daughters
Jayla and Tia. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science and
a MBA. Ammar currently
works at Federal Express as a Business Systems Analyst.
