2/24/07
Freshman Kim Tryon (Gulfbreeze/Gulfbreeze,FL) led the jumpers with some top finishes at the Sewanee Invitational Saturday. She finished 2nd in the pole vault with a leap of 2.89m (9'6), 6th in the triple jump with a jump of 10.57m (34'8), and 3rd in the 55 meter hurdles in a time of 9.24 seconds. Both the hurdles and triple jump are personal bests for Tryon.
The jumps have been an especially strong event area for the Lynx, especially with the limited squad. Freshman Julia Goss (Visitation/St.Louis,MO) continued her excellence, by winning the long jump with an NCAA National Provisional qualifying mark of 5.47m (17'11).
First-year athlete Bekka Russ (Franklin/Franklin,TX) had another great day doubling in the high jump and pole vault. She finished fourth in both, tieing her personal best in the high jump with a leap of 1.51m (4'11.5) and clearing 2.74m (8'11.75) in the pole vault.
On the men's side, Freshman Greg Cook (St.John's/Bellaire,TX) made the finals in the triple jump with a mark of 12.80 (42'), finishing in 6th place. Freshman Jeremy Moye (McCallie/Ooltewah,TN) also finished in 6th place in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.35m (10'11.75).
