Along
the way, he has captured 3 SCAC Conference Titles and
six 2nd place finishes. He has been selected SCAC Coach
of The Year 4 times, and his teams have been nationally
ranked each year since 1994 and have traveled to 4 NCAA
National Tournaments. Eighteen of his players have been
selected to All-Region teams and 3 have been named All-Americans.
His teams have also been awarded the NSCAA/ADIDAS Academic
Team Award 5 times. He
also previously coached the women's team to an 8-year
(91'-98') record of 111-33-4 (77%), while leading them
to 3 consecutive years of NCAA DIII national rankings.
In 1991, his first year with the women's team, he set
an NCAA DIII record for "Most Improved Team"--improving
to 10-3-1 from 0-14-1. His women's teams claimed one
SCAC title and five 2nd place finishes. Marcinko's women's
record still ranks him among the Top NCAA Women's Soccer
All-Time winning coaches (Division I, II, and III) for
winning percentage, and also on the NCAA DIII All-Time
winning percentage list for women's coaches having coached
a minimum of 100 games. Prior
to arriving at Rhodes, Marcinko spent 8 years at Richland
Junior College, in Dallas, Texas, where he compiled
a 96-35-12 record while leading his nationally-ranked
teams to five NJCAA Regional Tournaments. He was also
named NJCAA Region 5 Coach of the Year three times. Besides
his collegiate coaching experience, Marcinko's past
includes coaching within the Olympic Development Programs
of Texas, Tennessee, and Mississippi. He has coached
competitive club soccer teams to several USYSA Regional
Tournaments, and in 1997, was selected to coach the
Region III Women's Amateur team at the U.S. Soccer Festival
in Blaine, Minnesota. Marcinko has also been a coaching
instructor for the North Texas and Tennessee State Soccer
Associations. Marcinko
grew up in the soccer-rich environments of St. Louis
and Dallas, where he played both club and high school
soccer. He continued his play in college for Virginia
Tech, where he helped his team achieve Top-10 regional
rankings in the NCAA DI Mid-Atlantic Region. Graduating
in 1982 with a BS in Biology, Marcinko then earned an
MS in Exercise Physiology from the University of North
Texas in 1989. Marcinko
holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) "A" license,
an Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), and International
Coaching Diplomas from the Brazilian Football Academy
and the Football Association of Ireland. He has traveled
to 34 countries on 4 continents, coaching youth, college,
and amateur teams, while also attending coaching seminars
and observing youth and professional training programs.
From his vast experiences around the world, he has developed
a coaching style and philosophy that has provided his
players with an enjoyable soccer experience, as well
as a life-long love for the beautiful game of soccer. |
