Andy Marcinko - Head Coach

Entering the 2006 season, Andy Marcinko has posted a 15-year men's team record of 187-77-13, making him the winningest soccer coach in Rhodes men's soccer history. His men's record ranks him in the top tier of the DIII Men's Soccer winning active coaches list, and (by percentage) on the DIII Men's Soccer All-Time winningest coaches list. In his tenure at Rhodes, he has established the men's program as one of the strongest Division III programs in the country.

Along the way, he has captured 3 SCAC Conference Titles and six 2nd place finishes. He has been selected SCAC Coach of The Year 4 times, and his teams have been nationally ranked each year since 1994 and have traveled to 4 NCAA National Tournaments. Eighteen of his players have been selected to All-Region teams and 3 have been named All-Americans. His teams have also been awarded the NSCAA/ADIDAS Academic Team Award 5 times.

He also previously coached the women's team to an 8-year (91'-98') record of 111-33-4 (77%), while leading them to 3 consecutive years of NCAA DIII national rankings. In 1991, his first year with the women's team, he set an NCAA DIII record for "Most Improved Team"--improving to 10-3-1 from 0-14-1. His women's teams claimed one SCAC title and five 2nd place finishes. Marcinko's women's record still ranks him among the Top NCAA Women's Soccer All-Time winning coaches (Division I, II, and III) for winning percentage, and also on the NCAA DIII All-Time winning percentage list for women's coaches having coached a minimum of 100 games.

Prior to arriving at Rhodes, Marcinko spent 8 years at Richland Junior College, in Dallas, Texas, where he compiled a 96-35-12 record while leading his nationally-ranked teams to five NJCAA Regional Tournaments. He was also named NJCAA Region 5 Coach of the Year three times.

Besides his collegiate coaching experience, Marcinko's past includes coaching within the Olympic Development Programs of Texas, Tennessee, and Mississippi. He has coached competitive club soccer teams to several USYSA Regional Tournaments, and in 1997, was selected to coach the Region III Women's Amateur team at the U.S. Soccer Festival in Blaine, Minnesota. Marcinko has also been a coaching instructor for the North Texas and Tennessee State Soccer Associations.

Marcinko grew up in the soccer-rich environments of St. Louis and Dallas, where he played both club and high school soccer. He continued his play in college for Virginia Tech, where he helped his team achieve Top-10 regional rankings in the NCAA DI Mid-Atlantic Region. Graduating in 1982 with a BS in Biology, Marcinko then earned an MS in Exercise Physiology from the University of North Texas in 1989.

Marcinko holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) "A" license, an Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), and International Coaching Diplomas from the Brazilian Football Academy and the Football Association of Ireland. He has traveled to 34 countries on 4 continents, coaching youth, college, and amateur teams, while also attending coaching seminars and observing youth and professional training programs. From his vast experiences around the world, he has developed a coaching style and philosophy that has provided his players with an enjoyable soccer experience, as well as a life-long love for the beautiful game of soccer.
