The Lynx earned their first victory of the 2006 season with a 2-0 victory over Luther College (IA). Starting the season, the men were looking to pick up where they left off in the spring and on their preseason Germany trip. After working hard for two weeks of practice, the men were definitely looking forward to some good competition. Starting off the first half, the men were able to possess the first few minutes of the game, looking for either forward sophomore Jay Carpenter or freshman forward Erick DeVore. |
After registering the first shot of the game, a long ball was played into the corner where forward DeVore was able to run down the ball and beat the Luther defender to the goal line. After cutting it back into the box, Devore was able to hammer it inside the near post for the first goal of the 2006 season. After the initial goal, the Lynx settled down nicely and was able to begin dictating the tempo. Working the ball again out of the back, junior defender Arian Moshref brought the ball down the left side and shot the ball where Norse goalkeeper Leif Madsen made the initial save but again forward Erick DeVore was able to follow the rebound and put it in for a 2-0 lead heading into halftime. |

During the second half, the Lynx again pushed the ball and created several good opportunities with several freshmen contributing, notably midfielder Allen Orgeron and defender/midfielder Richard Sewell. Freshmen forwards Zack Berry and Logan Eberly also were able to create some nice scoring opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net. Goalkeeper Alex Margolin earned his first shutout of the season, going the full 90 minutes and making four saves, controlling his box very well. |

| The Lynx are back in action tomorrow, looking to start the season 2-0 playing UT-Dallas at 4:00 pm. | |
