Lynx, Webster end in 0-0 draw, game halted due to weather
9/10/06...

After the hard fought tie against Washington University on Friday night, the Lynx were coming into the game knowing that they had to win. The Lynx came out much sharper offensively against Webster, getting two shots on goal in the first five minutes. Sophomore Jay Carpenter had the best scoring chance early, having his header from a Brad Crawford cross hit the back post. The Lynx seemed as if they would capitalize early on the low pressure from the Webster defense but the Lynx had a difficult time finding the back of the net for the second straight game.

The Gorloks had a few scoring opportunities of their own, with midfielder Alan Basic putting a couple shots on goal early. But just as he had the previous game, sophomore goalkeeper Alex Margolin and the Lynx defense were able to limit any quality scoring chance that they had. Later in the first half, freshman midfielder Richard Sewell came extremely close to finding the back of the net as his shot careened off the near post and out of play.

The second half saw the Lynx and the Gorloks still battle it out and neither team was able to find a quality scoring opportunity. In the 88th minute, a massive storm moved through that forced the game to be called. Webster University outshot Rhodes 10-7 and goalkeeper Alex Margolin had five saves on the day.
