On a cold day in early November, the Rhodes men's soccer team defeated University of the South-Sewanee 2-1. Freshman forwards Logan Eberly (Evansville, IN) and Zachary Berry (Dyersburg, TN) netted a goal each. The Lynx have now won three in a row, last accomplishing that feat in 2004 when the Lynx closed out the regular season on a four-game winning streak, defeating Millsaps College, Christian Brothers University, Hendrix College, and Rust College. |
Sewanee struck first in the 21st minute as midfielder Jason Chen hit a shot from 20 yards out that got past sophomore goalkeeper Alex Margolin (Austin, TX). The Lynx would respond, however, less than four minutes later as forward Zachary Berry netted his first career goal with an assist by Eberly. Eberly received a pass in the middle of the field and found Zachary Berry streaking down the field for a breakaway that tied the score 1-1. |

Eberly would score his team-leading 11th goal of the year in the 40th minute as he stole a ball from a Sewanee defender and then Eberly fired a shot that hit the upper back post and bounced in. |

Sewanee would make things interesting in the end, with opportunities to tie the score. But the Lynx defense was solid, with senior midfielder Brad Crawford (Roswell, GA) clearing a ball of the line. Margolin went the distance in goal, making six saves in the game. The Lynx are back in action on Sunday as they travel to Atlanta, GA for their final match of the season. The Lynx will be taking on Oglethorpe University at 12:00 noon. |
