Eberly notches second hat trick, defeat Rust 4-0
10/29/06...

Freshman forward Logan Eberly (Evansville, IN) recorded his second hat trick in as many games as the Lynx defeated Rust College 4-0 on a warm and sunny Sunday afternoon. They have won three of their past four games, outscoring their opponents 11-5 in that time. Eberly now has a team-leading 10 goals on the season, along with two assists for a total of 22 points.
Eberly picked right up where he left off on Saturday, opening the scoring in the 15th minute. Freshman midfielder Allen Orgeron (New Orleans, LA) sent in a cross from the right side that was stopped just short of the goal line by senior midfielder Brad Crawford (Roswell, GA) that was tapped in by Eberly.
The score would stay 1-0 until the 48th minute as freshman forward Erick DeVore (Dayton, OH) sent in a cross from the right side across the box that Eberly finished with authority. As everyone was anticipating a third goal, Eberly would earn his second hat trick of the weekend in the 61st minute when a goal kick by the Rust goalkeeper came to midfield, freshman midfielder Matt Childs (Henderson, KY) headed the ball all the way back to the box as Logan was able to draw the keeper out and chip him for his third goal of the day. Freshman forward Jeff Ricker (Danville, KY) seeing his first action of the year, scored on a penalty kick with just over a minute remaining the game.
The Lynx defense, led by freshman Joey Madere (New Orleans, LA), also did a commendable job as they limited Rust College to only two shots on goal. The Lynx now stand at 5-9-3 and 2-4-1 in SCAC play.
The Lynx are back in action as they hit the road for their final contests of the 2006 season, taking on University of the South-Sewanee on Friday at 3:00 pm. They then head to Atlanta, GA to take on Oglethorpe University on Sunday at 12:00 noon.
