Men's Soccer defeats Millsaps in overtime, 3-2
10/28/06...

Freshman forward Logan Eberly (Evansville, IN) recorded his first career hat trick as the Lynx defeated Millsaps 3-2 in overtime at Rhodes College. It was the first hat trick recorded by a Lynx player since October 10, 2005 when Trey Whitsitt scored three goals in a 7-0 win over Delta State.
Opening the scoring, freshman defender Richard Sewell (Plano, TX) found Eberly on the back post on a free kick from 30 yards out to take a 1-0 lead. Millsaps would answer in the 41st minute as forward Lance Allen put a breakaway past goalkeeper Alex Margolin.
Heading into the second half, the Lynx would regain the lead as Eberly would record his second goal of the game with Sewell taking a corner kick that found junior defender Arian Moshref (Cordova, TN) who flicked the ball onto Eberly for a 2-1 lead. But Millsaps would again have an answer as Anthony Amaya would find himself unchallenged in the box, scoring off a corner kick, in the 74th minute to tie the score 2-2.
The game would head into overtime, but it would not take long for Eberly to complete the hat trick. In the 93rd minute, senior midfielder Brad Crawford would take the ball up the left side and send in a cross that freshman forward Zachary Berry would send across the box to find Eberly for the game winner. The Lynx now stand at 4-9-3 overall and 2-4-1 in SCAC play. The Lynx are back in action as they take on Rust College (MS) on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
