Rhodes Soccer loses to Colorado College, 3-0
10/16/06...
After spending some quality time enjoying the Colorado scenery Saturday, the Lynx were back in action against the Colorado College Tigers on Sunday. The Lynx, coming off a disappointing loss to Chapman University, were hoping to push the tempo at the start of the game in order to put some pressure on the Tigers defense. The plan worked, as the Lynx midfield was constantly able to get in behind Colorado's defense, but unable to connect on a goal. Their best chance came in about the 20th minute, as junior midfielder Chris Chugden played a beautiful cross to the back post that freshman forward Logan Eberly was unable to get his foot on.
The score would remain tied heading into the second half when a questionable non-call by the referee led to Tiger forward Pat Fagan scoring from the left side less than a minute into the second half. The Lynx had what appeared to be a penalty kick opportunity as freshman forward Erick DeVore was taken down in the box, but again a non-call by the referee did not go in the Lynx' favor. The score would remain 1-0 until the 83rd minute when Tiger forward Trevor Cobb would score making it 2-0. Cobb would score again a little more than a minute later to make it 3-0 and put the game well out of reach. Goalkeeper Alex Margolin gave a solid effort, going the distance and making six saves.
The Lynx are now 2-8-3 on the season and 0-3-1 in SCAC play. They are back in SCAC action this weekend as they take on Hendrix College (AR) at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 20 and then Austin College (TX) at 12:00 noon on Sunday, October 22.
