Men's soccer drops to DePauw, 5-2
10/01/06...

Playing in front of a large crowd of family and friends due to Parents Weekend at Rhodes College, the Lynx were looking to earn their first SCAC victory of the 2006 season. The Lynx started out strong, with freshmen forwards Logan Eberly and Zachary Berry creating some nice combinations up top. Sophomore midfielder Parke Brackett (Des Moines, IA), earning his first start of the 2006 season, also created a nice scoring opportunity in the 11th minute but Eberly was unable to convert.
Senior midfielder Scott Noel opened the scoring for DePauw University in the 31st minute as he beat goalkeeper Alex Margolin to the far post. Scott Noel would net two more goals for the hat trick in the game. His brother, junior forward Nick Noel, also chipped in a goal. It wasn't until DePauw was leading 5-0 that Rhodes would get on the board. Freshman forward Logan Eberly (Evansville, IN) notched his first collegiate goal as the headed in a cross from sophomore defender Rob Palutsis (Lake Bluff, IL). Junior midfielder Mike Hadler (Chapel Hill, NC) rounded out the scoring as he finished a cross from Eberly.

The Lynx outshot DePauw 15-14 and goalkeeper Alex Margolin went the first 75 minutes in goal, making six saves before giving way to Alex Mathis who did not register a save. The Lynx are off until October 9 when they take on Crichton College at 4:00 pm.
