The Rhodes men's soccer team defeated Coaliste Ide 2-1 Thursday afternoon at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex Stadium. After Tyler Rosser scored the first goal to knot the score 1-1, it was freshman forward Erick DeVore who scored the eventual game-winner in penalty kicks.

Coaliste Ide found the back of the net in the 10th minute on a free kick that was headed past goalkeeper Alex Margolin. Rhodes evened the score 1-1 late in the first half when a strike by Tyler Rosser went through the hands of the Irish goalkeeper. The score remained 1-1 through the end of regulation. Both teams decided to not end in a tie and went directly to penalty kicks. Each team was perfect through the first eight shooters when goalkeeper Alex Margolin made his first stop and freshman forward Erick DeVore scored the game-winner.

The Rhodes men’s team play in the annual Memphis Cup this Saturday when they take on the University of Memphis at 9 am at Rhodes College and then the winner of CBU/Lambuth at 3 pm at Rhodes College.
