Distinguished Faculty Portrait

Since 1986, Rhodes alumni have honored members of the faculty who played an influential role in their lives by commissioning portraits for inclusion in the Distinguished Faculty Portrait Series.

Since the portrait of W. Raymond Cooper, longtime Professor of History, was unveiled on October 25, 1986, portraits of more than a dozen faculty members have been added to this series. All portraits hang on the walls of West Hall and Neely Hall in the Refectory, reminding us of Rhode’s tradition of “truth, loyalty and service” as embodied by these great teachers.

Nominations

Alumni are invited to nominate faculty members for this portrait series by filling out the online Awards Nomination Form, or by sending a letter or email to the Alumni Office. Each year, the honoree portrait is unveiled during the Annual Convocation of the Rhodes College Alumni Association, held during Homecoming in October.
