Prof. Charles McKinney gave a talk and signed copies of his book, Greater Freedom, in Wilson, North Carolina – the city upon which his research is based. On Thursday, September 12, McKinney spoke at Barton College in Wilson for its annual series of lectures on the U.S Constitution and Civil Rights. McKinney’s book, Greater Freedom: The Evolution of the Civil Rights Struggle in Wilson, North Carolina, chronicles the efforts of the black community to build and sustain a struggle for freedom across four decades. On Friday, September 13, McKinney took part in a panel discussion on the movement in Wilson, along with many of the activists he interviewed for his book.
