Lauren Blalock Sefton

Lauren Sefton

As a student at Rhodes, Lauren Blalock Sefton did an interdisciplinary degree and double minored. Now, the skills she learned from International Studies and Political Science (her major), as well as Business Administration and German (her minors), continue to serve her well at Rhodes. Since graduating in 2003, she has worked in the Office of Admissions as the counselor who travels to Arkansas, Tennessee (excluding Memphis & Shelby County), North Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. Sefton will also put her German minor to work as the counselor responsible for Europe and Asia. In off hours, “I enjoy reading fiction novels, traveling, and taking my dog for walks by the Mississippi River. I love to travel anywhere and everywhere!” In fact, Sefton has visited over 25 countries. “A few summers ago, I spent four weeks in Africa, on safari in Botswana and visiting a friend in Senegal. I hope to visit again soon!”

Memphis has become home for Sefton. “I love downtown Memphis: walking down Beale Street, sitting in the lawn seats at the Redbirds stadium, taking the trolley down to South Main to visit the art galleries, and eating out at downtown restaurants,” she says. Asked what brought her to the “Capital of the Delta,” Sefton replies, “Rhodes College, of course!”
