A Memphian since elementary school, Teneice Stegall never imagined staying in the area for college. A visit to Rhodes, however, changed her perspective. “Rhodes gave me the ability to live close to home, but I never felt like I was too close. Rhodes provided me the opportunity to make Memphis my own.” Like many of Rhodes’ local students, Stegall found herself learning more about the city during her years at Rhodes than she ever did before her freshman year. “I love to explore restaurants here in Midtown. Soul Fish Café is one of my favorites, so is the Cheesecake Corner downtown. I’d never been down here before I came to Rhodes.”

Stegall graduated from Rhodes in 2009 with a degree in Religious Studies and a minor in African American Studies. Both of these fields contributed to her growing desire to explore different facets of multiculturalism both on campus and in the world at-large. As a student, Stegall was heavily involved with campus organizations such as the Black Student Association (BSA) and the Hispanic Organization for Language and Activities (HOLA). Stegall was also a part of a capella groups on campus, all while managing the on-campus coffee shop the Middle Ground. “I interned with the Office of Admissions for two years working specifically with multicultural recruitment. I now coordinate most of the recruitment efforts for multicultural students and I love it!” In addition to her multicultural commitments, Stegall works specifically with the Memphis and Shelby County public schools, as well as the mid-South (within 100 miles of Memphis) and Illinois.
