They say you can never go home again, but for Angela Kornman, this saying doesn’t quite hold true. A 2006 graduate of Rhodes, Kornman has come back to Memphis after completing a Master’s in Bioethics at the University of Pittsburgh. “I’ve lived all over the world, including Russia for a semester during college, but Memphis is a place I call home. It’s one of the most interesting cities I’ve ever experienced.” A double major in Philosophy and Russian Studies while at Rhodes, Kornman is looking forward to applying her research and interest in adolescent and young adult decision making to college admissions. “Having focused on youth autonomy in health issues for my Master’s, I’m interested in exploring similar themes as they relate to higher education. Getting to help students come to my alma mater? I couldn’t be more proud.” Kornman is the counselor responsible for Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas (Dallas and Houston), Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
While Kornman loves being in Memphis, you may not see her participating in one of Memphis’ most famous pastimes—eating barbecue. Kornman is a dedicated vegan and is quite happy with the number of restaurants here that offer vegan-friendly fare. Kornman is also less likely to be driving a car, as she is an avid fan of biking around Memphis, an activity that comes second only to playing with her cats PJ and Olivia Vivienne.
