Like most college seniors, Beverly Brooks was unsure of what life held after graduation. Taking an internship in her college admissions office gave her some much needed clarity. “I never thought I would find my calling at 21. But I can’t think of any job I would rather be doing.” As the counselor responsible for Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, Alaska, and Hawaii, Brooks is looking forward to getting out on the road.

Brooks graduated from The College of Wooster with a degree in Classical Studies and a minor in Comparative Literature. She spent her senior year actively involved in the Classics honorary society, her sorority, and spent most of the year writing her senior thesis on the parallels in the rhetoric and societal views of women of Cicero and President Bill Clinton. “I wanted to take my Classics major, my Comp Lit minor, and my interest in communications and combine them all together. My thesis provided me the opportunity to completely personalize my education, which is what liberal arts is all about!”

In her spare time, Brooks puts her Classics degree to good use in trivia nights around Memphis. She also enjoys reading, watching reality TV shows and The Office, (slowly) decorating her Midtown apartment, and trying to find a good substitute for a Chipotle burrito here in Memphis. “Swanky’s Taco Shop and Qdoba in East Memphis are both great. But you really can’t beat a carnitas burrito from Chipotle.”
