International Financial Aid
Don’t let financial need keep you from applying to Rhodes.
International applicants may be eligible and competitive for merit-based scholarships ranging from $7,500 to $20,000. Scholarships are highly competitive and are awarded based on an evaluation of the applicant’s academic and personal merit. Other merit scholarships offered by the college are by invitation only. For more information regarding merit-based aid, please visit our Scholarships and Fellowships webpage.
What is the annual price of a Rhodes education?
The 2013-2014 fees:
|Resident Students||Commuter Students|
|Room and Board (21 meals/week, standard multiple occupancy)||$9,884|
International students also should consider costs for health insurance, round-trip transportation and meals, housing and transportation during academic breaks when the Rhodes campus is closed.
Financial Aid for International Students
Need-based financial aid for international students (non-U.S. citizens) is limited. Aid is awarded in the form of grants or “gift" aid, which varies in dollar amounts according to each student’s demonstrated financial need. International students may also be considered for on-campus jobs (student employment). Rhodes does consider an international student’s ability to pay for a Rhodes education when making the admission decision. Only international students who are unable to meet our costs should apply for need-based financial aid.
Typically, competition for admission among international applicants seeking aid is more difficult than for international students who do not require financial assistance. However, we encourage you to follow these steps in order to allow us to consider you for admission and financial aid.
Step 1. Apply for admission using the Common Application as explained under Applying to Rhodes.
Step 2. Complete the international student College Scholarship Service PROFILE (CSS PROFILE). Rhodes does not provide fee waivers for the CSS PROFILE. Students must demonstrate an ability to pay their portion of Rhodes’ costs over a four-year period.
Step 3. All international students, regardless of consideration for need-based aid, must complete the International Student Certification of Finances, which is required to issue a visa from the United States government.
