Russell was Full Professor of Accounting in the College of Business and Economics at the Australian National University from 1991 to 2006. He is a recipient of the ANU Vice-Chancellor’s Award for teaching excellence. His principal current research interests include rhetoric and metaphor in the accountability discourse of CEOs; international financial accounting and reporting; accounting and business history; and management education in contemporary society. Russell has published five books, including CEO-Speak: The language of corporate leadership (McGill Queen’s University Press, 2006), with Joel Amernic. He is the author of over 120 research papers, research monographs and book chapters. Russell has provided policy advice to government departments, professional associations and public and private sector organizations.
