Information for Students


The mission of the Department of Music is to help all students acquire and synthesize a wide range of knowledge and experience in the areas of music theory, history, and performance in order to develop aesthetic sensibilities and the ability to express themselves musically in meaningful ways and to provide music majors an excellent comprehensive preparation for graduate education in music.

The Bachelor of Arts degree in music is a liberal arts degree designed to prepare students to undertake graduate studies, to develop a satisfying avocation, and to enter a wide range of careers. Students from various backgrounds are welcome to pursue this degree. Recent graduates have pursued careers in teaching, sacred music, music therapy, arts administration, and performance.
