Under the Foundations Curriculum, three writing courses are required: one writing seminar and two writing-intensive courses. Either English 151 or 155, as the only writing seminars at this time, is required of all students except those who are granted AP or transfer credit for a writing seminar course. English 151 may be taken in either the fall or the spring semester of the first year. Students with weak writing skills should be encouraged to enroll in 151 in the fall. Either Humanities 102 or Religious Studies 102 is one writing-intensive course taken by all first year students. The third writing course should be taken by the end of the second year.
