URCAS Projects

Urban Studies students perform many research projects that benefit the community. At the end of the school year, the students present their research findings through posters at the community connections session.
Specifically, they discuss the problems that they encountered in the community, the intervention that they studied, and the impact of the intervention.
The projects in 2007 include a study of safe streets in a neighborhood, the development of affordable housing, the impact of a tutoring program, optional schools, and new uses for a closed elementary school.
The projects in 2008 included a feasibility study for a farmers market, inner city shopping areas, resident perception of a contaminated urban creek, and problem properties in the inner city.
