Making Student Work Matter
Colleges around the country are emulating Rhodes’ pioneering Student Associates Program that provides students with what President Troutt calls “a full educational experience” at higher wages than work study students earn. On the institutional benefit side the program controls management costs. “When I first heard about the Rhodes program I thought it could be a perfect solution to ideas I’ve had for so long about better using students,” says Dan Temple of Kenyon College, one institution that is emulating the Rhodes program.
