Jessica, a Rhodes alumna, first began teaching in the English department in 2009. Before returning to Rhodes, Jessica received her masters at George Washington University. She recently completed her PhD (also from George Washington) in 20th Century American Literature. Her interests include trauma studies, American war literature and films, as well as psychoanalytic and feminist theory. Her dissertation traces the transmission of trauma in a selection of novels, including Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind, Willa Cather’s One of Ours, James Jones’s Whistle, and Tim O’Brien’s In The Lake of the Woods.
