Judge Edwin Cameron presents "Gay Rights Are Civil Rights"


Hosted by The English Department, The Spence L. Wilson Chair of Humanities, The Dean’s Office, The Gender and Sexuality Studies Program and The African-American Studies Program  - Judge Edwin Cameron presents "Gay Rights Are Civil Rights".

Judge Edwin Cameron was appointed Justice of the Supreme Court of South Africa by President Nelson Mandela. He has served on the Constitutional Court for the past five years and is an internationally renowned human rights advocate.

Cameron has written scholarly articles on the judiciary, conscription, labour and employment law, the law of trusts, AIDS and HIV, the legal rights of gays and lesbians and the legal computation of time. He has also published a memoir, Witness to AIDS (2005), which was the joint winner of the 2006 Sunday Times/Alan Paton Prize, South Africa′s premier literary award for non-fiction.
