Art Project Dresses Up Former Clothing Store
Publication Date: 10/4/2007
Rhodes’ Center for Outreach in the Development of the Arts (CODA) and the Center City Commission are pleased to announce an installation by Darla Linerode-Henson at 82-86 South Main (formerly known as Stuart’s clothing store) for the Downtown Storefront Art Project.
Linerode-Henson has created a series of images of six foot tall figures sporting retro women’s clothing. The designs recall the era when Stuart’s was a popular Memphis venue.
There will be an opening reception at the intersection of Union and Main from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m on October 5. The Peanut Shoppe, also located on Main Street, will sell snacks on site.
This project is organized by CODA Fellow Lauren Kennedy ’08 with the assistance of Carmel Morgan and Wes Meador ’00.
