Publication Date: 7/23/2007
Rhodes College ranks second out of eleven schools for the total number of student-athletes named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Academic Honor Roll for spring 2007. “We believe the academic success of our student-athletes is due to the mentorship and support of our faculty, student support services and coaches,” says Rhodes Director of Athletics Mike Clary.
SCAC began recognizing the academic accomplishments of its athletes in the fall of 1997. To qualify, an athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference. In ten years, Rhodes has had 1,427 student-athletes making the SCAC All-Academic Honor Roll.
SCAC is comprised of Austin College of Sherman, Texas; Centre College of Danville, Kentucky; Colorado College of Colorado Springs, Colorado; DePauw University of Greencastle, Indiana; Hendrix College of Conway, Arkansas; Millsaps College of Jackson, Mississippi; Oglethorpe University of Atlanta, Georgia; Rhodes College of Memphis, Tennessee; The University of the South of Sewanee, Tennessee; Southwestern University of Georgetown, Texas; and Trinity University of San Antonio, Texas.
