Alumna Named a Terra Foundation Predoctoral Fellow at the Smithsonian

Stephanie Barnett Deusner ’99, a Ph.D. candidate in art history at the University of Delaware, has been named a Terra Foundation Predoctoral Fellow at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC. She will begin her 12-month tenure Sept. 1.
The $25,000 fellowship is designed to support doctoral candidates working to place the history of American art and artists in an international context. Her dissertation, titled “A Network of Associations: Aesthetic Painting and its Patrons, 1870–1914,” tracks the spread and exchange of Aesthetic movement ideas in painting from England to America and back again.
