History Professor Jeffrey Jackson to Pursue Research in Paris

Dr. Jeffrey Jackson, assistant professor of history, has been accepted as a fellow for the fall semester at the Columbia University Institute for Scholars at Reid Hall. Located in Paris, the residential program offers a setting in which outstanding scholars from different parts of the world may pursue their individual and collective research while interacting with other scholars in France and throughout Europe.

Jackson is author of Making Jazz French: Music and Modern Life in Interwar Paris (2003). This book is now in its second printing and was also a finalist for an award for Best Research in Recorded Jazz from the Association for Recorded Sound Collections, 2004. Jackson also is coeditor of Music and History: Bridging the Disciplines (2005).
