David Lane ′07 Selected for Fulbright Award to Germany

Rhodes College senior David Lane of Lynchburg, Va., has been selected a Fulbright student grantee to Germany. Lane is an economics and German double major.
As a Fulbright Scholar, Lane plans to pursue the art of teaching second languages at the high school level (English and German) for one year in Saxony, Germany. Upon completion of the Fulbright program, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in Germany at Middlebury College in Mainz before returning to the U.S.
The Fulbright Program, America’s highly prestigious international educational exchange sponsor, is administered by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Established in 1946 under legislation introduced by Arkansas Senator J. William Fulbright, the program awards grants to students, scholars, administrators and professionals to study, teach, lecture or conduct research abroad.
At Rhodes, Lane participates in the German Club, is a Math tutor at Springdale Elementary, practices photography, and is a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
Lane is the son of Douglas and Susan Lane of Lynchburg, Va.
